Rangers International Football Club of Enugu on Sunday played a drab goaless draw with Kwara United FC of Ilorin in the Match Day 10 of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) 2025/2026.
The match, played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu, started with the home team dictating the pace.
The flying Antelopes controlled the game right from the blast of the whistle but poor marksmanship, coupled with the agility of the United’s goalkeeper denied them goals.
The pressure almost paid off in the 44th minute of the first half when Chukwuemeka Agu’s free kick outside the 18-yard box hit the cross bar.
This caused anxiety among the home fans who have been craving for goals.
In the second half, the home team continued with their onslaught in the vital area of the visitors but could not find the net.
The visitors made frantic efforts to get the winner but lacked the spirit and determination to carry the day.
With the draw, Rangers now have 12 points from nine matches sitting on 12th position on the log.
In his post-match interview, Fidelis Ilechukwu, Coach of Rangers, lamented the absence of Godwin Obaje, their talisman who is currently nursing an injury.
“It is glaring now that without Obaje, we cannot score goals,” he said.
Suleiman Ashafat, Coach of Kwara United, said they came to Enugu with the mind to get points.
“The result is not bad; we came prepared to get some points but with this we are satisfied,” he said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
