The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) has reaffirmed its dedication to improving Nigeria’s public procurement system by emphasising professionalism and capacity building for procurement officers.

Dr Adebowale Adedokun, the Director-General of BPP, made this known at a three-day training for Senior Procurement Officers (SGL 14-16) in the bureau’s pool across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), in preparation for the forthcoming promotion examination.

Adedokun, represented by Nasir Bello, the Director of Civil Infrastructure Department, BPP, said the bureau is committed to this by promoting transparency, efficiency and accountability in procurement processes through trainings and collaboration.

He said the training is aimed at refreshing participants’ understanding of the Public Procurement Act 2007 and other relevant guidelines while highlighting their leadership roles in the procurement cadre.

He emphasised the importance of competent, integrity-driven, and efficient officers in implementing the Public Procurement Act at all levels of government.

Adedokun assured participants of the bureau’s dedication to their success in the examination and in becoming professionals who uphold transparency, accountability, and value in procurement.

Dr Dasuki Arabi, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, commended BPP’s innovations in digitalising procurement processes and emphasised the need to upscale procurement officers’ performances.

Arabi noted that BPP was the gatekeeper of integrity and custodian of due process in public service and financial management, ensuring consistent training and exposure to global best practices.

Participants were encouraged to reflect the bureau’s standards of integrity, fairness, due process, and excellence. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
