Hundreds of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection was facilitated by Rep. Aderemi Oseni, the lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, through his political platform, the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF).

Oseni, who also serves as the Chairman of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), described the mass defection as “unprecedented in the history of Ido Local Government.”

“It is beyond human opinion — God has been the one driving this project, and that is why we’ve been receiving over 1,500 members of the PDP in Ido Local Government decamping into the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends within the APC.”

“It is something unprecedented, unimaginable, and the first of its kind in the history of Oyo State politics.

“We give all glory to God, and we are still expecting more defections.

“We will be moving from local government to local government to receive more PDP members and others who are ready to join the APC through the ROCOF movement.”

Oseni added that the ultimate goal of the movement was to ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

“We are committed to a common goal — to work tirelessly to ensure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is returned to power in 2027, by the grace of God,” he stated.

The defectors, led by Chief Nureni Adeoye, described themselves as “returnees,” noting that they had long-standing ties with Oseni.

He commended the lawmaker’s developmental efforts and described him as a “record breaker.” (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
