Nigeria’s top seed, Success Ogunjobi, has secured her place in the finals of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors J30 tournament at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja.

Ogunjobi defeated Zimbabwe’s Rutendo Tom 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals. She dominated from start to finish, displaying confidence and precision to seal a straight-sets victory.

The Nigerian youngster will now aim to lift the title on home soil in Saturday’s final.

Ohunene Yakubu beat fellow Nigerian Khadijat Mohammed 6-1, 6-3, while Benjamin James overcame USA’s David Beckles 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 to also book a final spot.

Spain’s Javier Montes defeated Nigeria’s Edwards Omozokpia 6-2, 7-5 to reach the finals.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tournament has thrilled fans with impressive displays from young tennis talents.

The week-long event has attracted strong interest as rising stars battle for ranking points and honours.

The tournament is organised by the Tiger Tennis Foundation, owned by Paul Moses.

The foundation provides a platform for young players to showcase their talents and grow in the sport.

Ogunjobi expressed delight after securing her spot in the final of the tournament.

“I feel really happy and proud of myself for making it to the final. It wasn’t easy, but I stayed focused and gave my best,” she told NAN.

The number one seed added that she would remain focused and give her best performance in the final.
