The Chairman, Oru West LGA of Imo, Mr Ikenna Adikibe, on Thursday, unveiled several projects executed by his administration to boost local infrastructure and enhance the people’s wellbeing.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the projects included a rehabilitated National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) lodge, a new 33kVA transformer, and modern busstops.
Adikibe inaugurated the projects at Mgbidi and Ibiasoegbe in the area.
He said the projects were in line with the 3R agenda – Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Recovery of Gov. Hope Uzodimma’s administration.
He thanked the governor for his continuous support to the council and promoting development across the state.
He said that the renovation of the lodge was not only an acknowledgement of corps members’ contribution to the development of the area, but “a commitment to also improving their welfare and security”.
Adikibe described the project as “part of my administration’s drive to provide a conducive environment for young Nigerians serving their nation.
“The newly commissioned 33kva transformer will address the severe power supply issue for residents, essential for small business growth and improved community life.
“These projects will boost the Local Government’s capacity to attract and house human resources, which would contribute to the socio-economic uplift of our local communities,” he said.
The chairman promised his continued commitment to people-focused projects, urging the community and beneficiaries to protect all the amenities from vandalism.
In a brief remark, the Commissioner for Rural Development and Economic Empowerment, Chief Ifeanyi Oruh, commended the chairman and his team for “the good job” in the area.
Oruh said that the state and Local Governments would continue to synergise towards developing and empowering the youths of the area.
He also commended the councillors for supporting the chairman with legislations that improve infrastructure and community development.

The NYSC Corps Liaison Officer for the council, Mr Afolabi Opeyemioluwa, lauded Adikibe for being corper-friendly, saying, “we thank the chairman for giving us his listening ears.
“I remember when this corpers’ lodge was in a poor state that with any little breeze, we will begin to pray against rainfall.
“Each time it rained was our worse nightmare,” he said.
He commended the effective leadership of the chairman that had brought the scheme out of the quagmire.
“The now comfortable lodge translates to better service delivery, as well as peace of mind to deliver at our places of primary assignment,” Opeyemioluwa said.
NAN reports that the event was attended by Local Government functionaries, community leaders, NYSC representatives, and residents, who commended the chairman for his quality leadership and commitment to the progress of the LGA. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
