Sen. Okey Ezea, representing Enugu North Senatorial Zone in Enugu State is dead.
The senator’s son, Jideofor, announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday, entitled “Notification of death of Sen. Okey Ezea”.
Jideofor stated that the sad event happened in Lagos on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at about 11.07pm in a private hospital.
“With profound grief, the family of Distinguished Sen. Okey Ezea announces his passing.
“Until his death, Ezea, who was elected on the platform of Labour Party in 2023 general elections, represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the 10th Senate.
“Ezea died in a private hospital in Lagos on November 18, at about 11.07 pm, following a brief illness,” the statement added.
The statement further noted that the late lawmaker, 62, is survived by his wife Chioma and four children.
“As we mourn this painful loss, we respectfully request prayers for the family of Ezea during this difficult time,” the statement added.
It also stated that until his death, Ezea was the Vice-chairman, Senate Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa and NEPAD, as well as the Vice-chairman, Senate Committee on Culture and Creative Economy. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
