The Media committee members of the defunct All Progressive Congress (APC) Independent Campaign Council (ICC) says the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has led the pack in President Bola Tinubu’s employment drive.
Dr Mariah Olasehinde, coordinator of the committee, disclosed this when she led a delegation to the Director-General of the NDE, Hon Silas Agara, on Friday in Abuja.
Olasehinde said that Agara has been very proactive in his approach to national growth and development as well as proved his mettle in different capacities over time.
“We are happy with your leadership qualities as a former Special Adviser, Commissioner under different administrations and lately a Deputy Governor under former Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
“Your achievements while you were the National Coordinator of APC-ICC led to the mobilisation of the electorate at the grassroots led to the success of the party at the general election that produced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We are happy and thankful for you and your team in the completion and relocation of your headquarters from a rented building to a permanent building.
‘’(You also) introduced Computer Based Test (CBT), payment of outstanding arrears, and success of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI) of the President that empowers youth,” she said.
In his response, Agara said: “I want to continue contributing my quota for the success of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the RHEI, reduce cost of governance of payment of annual rent, completion of the new headquarters, CBT and empowerment of youth.
“I personally supervised the building work on weekly basis, (because) our former office was rented for about three decades; this improved the morale of staff and having value for money,” he said.
Agara said he put an end to the use of syndicated hardcopy forms and introduced online registration for applicants as well as train and give loans for start-ups.
‘’When I came, I saw bags of files for arrears, promotion backlog, death benefit amongst others and I cleared them. I met one laptop, desk top and I bought 70 and printers.’’
