The Zephyrgold Aid Foundation, on Wednesday, distributed over 2,000 books and stationery to pupils of the Junior Secondary School (JSS) in Nyaya, FCT.

The foundation said that the gesture is aimed at improving learning outcomes in the community.

Speaking during the outreach, leader of the team, Mr Mathew Ajiboye, said that the initiative is part of the organisation’s commitment to promoting quality education in Nigeria.

She said that the foundation is established to impact lives, with a central focus on supporting students with the tools and motivation required to excel in academics.

“Education is at the core of building a safe nation; When students are empowered with the right materials and guided with the right mindset, they are in a better position to achieve their goals,” he said.

According to him, the outreach targeted students in the junior secondary school, adding that 2,000 books were distributed to students in JSS one while writing materials were given to those in JSS two.

He urged the students to remain focused and maintain a clear vision for their future, stressing that hard work and determination were essential tools of success.

He reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to sustaining such interventions, to ensure that more students benefit.

Also speaking, Principal of the school, Mr Damian Ekeugbo, commended the foundation for its recent educational initiative introduced to the school.

He described the initiative as a timely support which had significantly impacted students.

According to him, the intervention is “help from above,” noting that it was afforded to learners who were in need.

“When a child is educated, you cannot easily deceive or mislead that child; As teachers, we serve as non-kinetic security agents by shaping students’ thinking and helping them resist misinformation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ekeugbo highlighted some recurring challenges hindering effective teaching and learning in schools, citing inadequate chairs as one of such challenges.

He appealed for additional support in the areas of chairs and resources, to meet the needs of the growing number of students.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event also featured the donation of 15 white boards to 15 classrooms in the school. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
