A civil society organisation (CSO), Initiative for Leadership Development and Change (ILDC), has lauded the appointment of Retired Gen. Christopher Musa as Minister of Defence.

National President of the organization, Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday.

Nnam, who described Musa as a detribalised Nigerian, said he is the ‘most qualified’ for the job.

“Retired Gen. Christopher Musa is a man of proven personality and integrity, and he is uncompromising in the fight against terrorism.

“In fact, he is not a tribal bigot nor a sympathiser for terrorists. He operates in accordance with the rules of engagement without fear or favour,” he said.

The ILDC boss saluted President Bola Tinubu’s choice of Musa ‘in this critical phase of national insecurity’.

He expressed confidence in the capacity of the former Chief of Defence Staff to degrade and defeat terrorism in the country.

Nnam advocated for national support for Musa, maintaining that security is everyone’s business.

“When you see something, say something and by so doing, our gallant officers will defeat terrorism,” he said.

The ILDC president, who reiterated his confidence in Musa’s defence ingenuity, expressed the optimism that Nigeria would be safe again.

He commended the senate for confirming Musa’s appointment as defence minister.

NAN reports that the senate had, on Wednesday, confirmed the appointment of Musa, the immediate past chief of defence staff, as the country’s new defence minister. (NAN)
