The University of Maidugiri (UNIMAID) Alumni Forum, Abuja Chapter has called for unity to impact the school and its students.

The forum made the call on Saturday in Abuja, at the 9th edition of its Quarterly Walkout and Networking tagged: “Reawakening Walk 2.0”.

The President of the forum, Shettima Kukawa, advised all UNIMAID graduates residing in Abuja to identify with the alumni, unite and make impact on the school and her students.

Kukawa said that the reawakening walk was a movement calling on members of the association to wake up and participate.

“There is need for all of us to come together, unite and make impact in both the school and students.

“We are trying to bring our people together. It is only when you achieve that you are able to make the necessary impact on the people, the university and the students.

“Some of them who graduated from UNIMAID and reside in this town have never met themselves. So, this is what we do as part of our programmes to bring our members together,” he said.

He urged Abuja residents to socialise and build an established network that would build the alumni association and the university itself.

“The university recently celebrated its 50 years anniversary and we have challenges and issues with the alumni association. One is largely the lack of participation by members.

“That is what we are trying to do; create awareness about why this is important and then come together as an alumni association to benefit from ourselves and the university at large,” he said.

The Secretary of the forum, Maimuma Abdullahi, said that “re-Awakening” was not just a walk but a forum that provided UNIMAID graduates the opportunity to meet and network.

“This forum is more than just exercise. It is a platform to bring everyone together. You know, we are in Abuja, everybody is doing his thing. We do not get to meet often.

A former president of the forum, Hamisu Medugu, said that unity and networking mattered a lot in the society, adding that the walk will make friendships grow stronger and better for future. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
