Senior Pastor of the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Church Movement, in Kubwa, Abuja, Pastor Alex Ogundipe, has urged Nigerians to embrace and promote peace among one another, for national progress.
Ogundipe made the call during the churchโs 2025 Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, held on Sunday in Abuja.
It had the theme โGreat Mercy.โ
He said that no birthday in history had been celebrated in the manner of Jesus Christโs, adding that this singular honour underscores Christ as the true essence of Christianity.
According to him, from the 2026 budget, it is clear that the largest sectoral allocation was made to defence and security, which further signifies that peace remains crucial for national progress.
โSo my message to everyone is that we should embrace peace so that more funds can be channelled towards development,โ he said
On the carol theme, Ogundipe said that regardless of how bleak the world might seem, hope can only be found in Christ.
โThe world has always faced challenges, but to find joy and enjoy peace, you must know God, and you cannot truly know God without Jesus Christ; that is what we are celebrating.
โChrist is the fulfilment of Godโs promise to mankind, and we are encouraging everyone to embrace Him,โ Ogundipe said.
Earlier, Chairman of the 2025 Carol Committee, Mrs Omolara Oyinbo, said the theme โGreat Mercyโ was chosen to remind members of the sacrifices Jesus Christ made for humanity.
โGodโs mercy endures forever.
โWhat we received through the sacrifice of Jesus is something we do not deserve, but because of Godโs mercy; He gave us His Son,โ she said.
Oyinbo urged Christians to emulate the humility, kindness and forgiveness demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
Also speaking, a church member, Mrs Funto Babarinde, said that the carol service provided an opportunity to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and reflect on its significance.
โThe Nine Lessons summarises the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, reminding us of the great price paid for our salvation,โ she said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event featured carol songs and prayers for Nigeria. (NAN)
