Foundation says mentoring key to youth development

Foundation for Human Development and Innovation (FHCDI) on Tuesday called for intensified efforts toward mentoring youths to promote moral values and curb social vices in the society.

Chairman of FHCDI, Admiral Ibrahim Hamza, Ciroman Zazzau, made the call at the maiden end-of-year stakeholders engagement organised by the foundation in Suleja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the engagement focused on proffering solutions to challenges affecting communities in Suleja, ย such as youth empowerment, social welfare, health and security.

Hamza assured stakeholders of the foundationโ€™s commitment to contributing meaningfully to youth development to reduce their negative social behaviours.

According to him, mentoring and value reorientation remain critical tools in empowering youths to become responsible and productive members of society.

In a remarks, Alhaji Adamu Tanko-Lokoja, member representing Suleja, Tafa and Gurara Federal Constituency, commended the foundation for its foresight in addressing challenges confronting the people.

Also speaking, Alhaji Muratala Badaru, Niger House of Assembly member representing Suleja constituency, expressed readiness to partner with the foundation in advancing programmes aimed at improving the wellbeing of the communities.

Alhaji Zakari Saka, former Commissioner for Environment in Niger, also urged other well-meaning individuals and organisations to emulate the foundationโ€™s initiative in promoting human development.

Mrs Fatima Adamu, Secretary of the foundation, said that a compendium of recommendations had been compiled from presentations made by various speakers at the event that would be used as a working document.

She added that a special committee would be constituted to work on the recommendations to ensure effective implementation.
