Several religious leaders and worshippers in the Federal Capital Territory predict that the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubuโ€™s administration will yield tangible results in 2026.
โ€‹The faithful, in various New Year messages delivered during thanksgiving services on Thursday, described 2026 as a pivotal year for national restoration, strategic growth, and divine intervention.
Anglican Primate, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, said at the Cathedral Church of Advent, Life Camp, that 2026 required โ€œstrategic guidanceโ€ across international, national, and domestic levels to ensure success.
โ€‹The cleric noted that strategies would shape the year for families and institutions alike, urging Nigerians to seek divine direction to navigate the evolving national landscape.
โ€‹Ndukuba projected economic recovery, asserting that President Tinubuโ€™s long-standing policies and reforms were set to achieve their full, intended impact throughout 2026.
โ€‹โ€œThe Presidentโ€™s economic plans, which began years ago, will kick off in full measure this year. I have confidence in the administrationโ€™s fiscal proposals,โ€ he said.
โ€‹He assured citizens that harmful schemes would fail, insisting that Godโ€™s eternal purpose for Nigeria will prevail over any negative forces or national challenges.
โ€‹He encouraged Nigerians to embrace biblical principles of dominion and prosperity, urging them to align their actions with a divine plan for national growth.
โ€‹In spite potential hurdles, the Primate projected that the nation would experience significant repositioning and stability if citizens remained committed to their spiritual and civic purposes.
โ€‹Concluding with prayers for peace and resilience, he called on the nation to remain hopeful, fostering a collective commitment to positive change and sustainable progress.
โ€‹Similarly, Pastor Solomon Olowokere, Associate Pastor at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Living Water Headquarters, Jabi, called on both leaders and other citizens to commit the year to God to navigate the nationโ€™s security challenges.
โ€‹โ€Our leaders are expected to trust God for directives. Even we, the subjects, should follow the leadership of our leaders through God.
โ€œNigeria will be better than this; in 2026, we will have reasons to praise God,โ€ Olowokere said.
โ€‹On his part, Rev. Shadrach Panle, the Leading Pastor of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Garki, anchored his message on โ€œAmazing Grace,โ€ referencing Jeremiah 29:11.
โ€‹Panle encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful regardless of past struggles with poverty and illness, stating that Godโ€™s plan for the year is to prosper the people and provide for their needs โ€œfree of charge.โ€
โ€‹Worshippers who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shared similar sentiments, expressing confidence in the governmentโ€™s current trajectory.
โ€‹Mr Akeju Gbadebo, a worshipper, noted that 2026 should be a year of consolidation for the Presidentโ€™s reforms.
โ€‹โ€Nigeria has started on a good path. I believe this year will consolidate the path to greatness.
โ€œMy expectation is that of prosperity and an end to the insecurity we are facing,โ€ he said.
โ€‹Another worshipper, Mrs Veronica Shehu, urged the government to prioritise the welfare of the vulnerable, noting that the โ€œhardship is too much.โ€
โ€‹โ€We pray that in their decision making, they should seek God first and walk with the masses at heart.
โ€œThey should not only look at the well-to-do but remember the needy so that God can help them attain a greater height this year,โ€ Shehu said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
