Several religious leaders and worshippers in the Federal Capital Territory predict that the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubuโs administration will yield tangible results in 2026.
โThe faithful, in various New Year messages delivered during thanksgiving services on Thursday, described 2026 as a pivotal year for national restoration, strategic growth, and divine intervention.
Anglican Primate, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, said at the Cathedral Church of Advent, Life Camp, that 2026 required โstrategic guidanceโ across international, national, and domestic levels to ensure success.
โThe cleric noted that strategies would shape the year for families and institutions alike, urging Nigerians to seek divine direction to navigate the evolving national landscape.
โNdukuba projected economic recovery, asserting that President Tinubuโs long-standing policies and reforms were set to achieve their full, intended impact throughout 2026.
โโThe Presidentโs economic plans, which began years ago, will kick off in full measure this year. I have confidence in the administrationโs fiscal proposals,โ he said.
โHe assured citizens that harmful schemes would fail, insisting that Godโs eternal purpose for Nigeria will prevail over any negative forces or national challenges.
โHe encouraged Nigerians to embrace biblical principles of dominion and prosperity, urging them to align their actions with a divine plan for national growth.
โIn spite potential hurdles, the Primate projected that the nation would experience significant repositioning and stability if citizens remained committed to their spiritual and civic purposes.
โConcluding with prayers for peace and resilience, he called on the nation to remain hopeful, fostering a collective commitment to positive change and sustainable progress.
โSimilarly, Pastor Solomon Olowokere, Associate Pastor at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Living Water Headquarters, Jabi, called on both leaders and other citizens to commit the year to God to navigate the nationโs security challenges.
โโOur leaders are expected to trust God for directives. Even we, the subjects, should follow the leadership of our leaders through God.
โNigeria will be better than this; in 2026, we will have reasons to praise God,โ Olowokere said.
โOn his part, Rev. Shadrach Panle, the Leading Pastor of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Garki, anchored his message on โAmazing Grace,โ referencing Jeremiah 29:11.
โPanle encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful regardless of past struggles with poverty and illness, stating that Godโs plan for the year is to prosper the people and provide for their needs โfree of charge.โ
โWorshippers who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shared similar sentiments, expressing confidence in the governmentโs current trajectory.
โMr Akeju Gbadebo, a worshipper, noted that 2026 should be a year of consolidation for the Presidentโs reforms.
โโNigeria has started on a good path. I believe this year will consolidate the path to greatness.
โMy expectation is that of prosperity and an end to the insecurity we are facing,โ he said.
โAnother worshipper, Mrs Veronica Shehu, urged the government to prioritise the welfare of the vulnerable, noting that the โhardship is too much.โ
โโWe pray that in their decision making, they should seek God first and walk with the masses at heart.
โThey should not only look at the well-to-do but remember the needy so that God can help them attain a greater height this year,โ Shehu said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
