The Mbaise Policy Roundtable (MPR), a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), has inaugurated an e-commerce platform, ekeohaonline.com .
The Founder and Chairman of the MPR, Prof. Eddie Oparaoji, inaugurated the platform at the NGO’s 2026 annual global summit in Nguru, Aboh-Mbaise council area of Imo, on Friday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the MPR is an NGO focused on the socio-economic development of the Mbaise council areas of Imo, namely  Aboh, Ahiazu and Ezinihitte Mbaise.
Oparaoji, while performing the inauguration, spoke on the theme: “ Food Security and Cluster Farming: the Foundation for Health and Economic Stability”.
He said that the idea of the e-commerce platform was predicated on the need to ensure that every individual had unlimited access to nutritious foods, while fostering economic growth.
He emphasised the significance of healthy nutrition as a cornerstone of community wellbeing, adding that with the platform, food will be more easily accessible , paving the way for healthier lifestyles and a more productive society.
“ Ekeohaonline.com will serve as a catalyst for agricultural and digital growth, as it will provide broader market access for farmers, enhance operational efficiency and facilitate data-driven strategies that will elevate their productivity,” he said.
Speaking, Chairman of the year 2026 MPR, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, advised Nigerians to be careful about the foods they consume, especially vegetables, which he said could be poorly handled in the process of preservation.
Ahaneku, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Science and Technology, Abuja, urged youths and retirees alike to embrace agriculture for sustainability.
Also, Dr Beulah Okechukwu, the Founder of Array Ventures Consultancy Firm, advocates of cluster farming, called on farmers to fight  underdevelopment through proper nutrition.
“ There is a close relationship between malnutrition and underdevelopment. Reducing malnutrition is an important goal for development “, she said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was attended by prominent sons and daughters of Mbaise, including a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
