Controller, Federal Fire Service (FFS), FCT Command, Suleiman Anas, says the promotion of 733 firemen will further boost the morale of firefighters in the territory.
Anas said this during the decoration of the officers and men on Thursday at the Command Headquarters, Kubwa, Abuja.
He assured residents that emergency response to fire and other emergencies across the territory would become faster and more efficient as a result of the morale boost due to the unprecedented advancement.
“Promotion is a major welfare issue and a strong motivator; officers are in high spirits and prepared to give 101 per cent in safeguarding lives and property,” he assured.
According to him, following the Dec2025 promotion conducted by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Board (CDCFIB), the command recorded its highest number of beneficiaries since its inception.
Anas added that this showed the commitment of the Federal Government to personnel welfare and operational efficiency.
He explained that the promotion cuts across ranks with three Chief Superintendents of Fire were elevated to Assistant Controllers, 36 Superintendents to Chief Superintendents, and 22 Deputy Superintendents to Superintendents.
“Also, 547 Assistant Superintendents of Fire I were promoted to Deputy Superintendents, 46 Assistant Superintendents II to Assistant Superintendents I and 79 Inspectors to Assistant Superintendents II,” Anas said.
He further urged residents to remain safety-conscious and to promptly call emergency numbers at the first sign of an incident to aid rapid deployment.
The controller charged the elevated firefighters to consistently exhibit professionalism, diligence and readiness to serve, emphasising that promotion means added responsibilities.
According to him, the promotion will necessitate internal rejigging and redeployments to optimise service delivery across the FCT.
Anas attributed the milestones in the command to the leadership of the Federal Fire Service, Controller-General, Adeyemi Olumode.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that part of the decorated officers was the command’s Spokesperson, Superintendent of Fire (DSF) Barnabas Anyam.
The ceremony had in attendance representatives from sister security and emergency agencies as well as other relevant stakeholders.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
