A legal luminary, Alhaji Mohammed Ndarani, SAN, has announced the sponsorship of 10 students to study Nupe Language at the university level.

Ndarani said in an interview with newsmen in Minna on Saturday that the scholarship would take effect upon the commencement of the Nupe Language Degree programme recently approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2025.

According to him, he has committed an undisclosed amount of money to fund their education from 100 to 400 levels for the beneficiaries.

The learned silk explained that his decision was inspired by the sustained efforts of Nupe Language advocates who worked tirelessly to institutionalise the course at the tertiary level.

He described the approval as a historic milestone for the preservation of Nupe Language and culture.

โ€œWe are fully prepared to support and formally unveil the Nupe Language degree programme once it begins.

โ€œWe will also invite our associates and well-meaning individuals to support our (Nupe) kingdom by sponsoring more students.

โ€œBy the grace of God, we intend to create opportunities for outstanding graduates to participate in international exchange programmes after graduation,โ€ Ndarani said.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria reaffirmed his commitment to human capital development, cultural preservation and academic advancement in Nupe land and beyond.

He added that the scholarship would significantly encourage enrolment in the programme, ease financial burden of students and strengthen efforts aimed at sustaining indigenous languages through formal education.

The NUCโ€™s approval of the Nupe Language degree programme has been widely hailed as a major breakthrough.

Ndaraniโ€™s intervention is expected to make a lasting positive impact on both the beneficiaries and the wider Nupe community. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
