C’River: Senator begins 2km constituency road project in Yakurr LG

Yakurr (Cross River), Jan. 26, 2026 (NAN) Sen. Eteng Williams (APC-Cross River), on Monday, commissioned work to begin on the 2km Mkpani Link Road project in Yakurr Local Government Area.
Speaking at the ceremony, Williams said that the road would link communities in the area for effective social and economic networking.
The senator stated that the road project was part of his electioneering promises to the people, adding,” this road will facilitate economic growth and rural transformation”
“This road forms part of my deliberate effort to promote the wellbeing of residents of this senatorial district. It is one of the several projects that we shall undertake.
“Our desire is to add value to rural communities, and improve the living standards of our constituents. Roads are critical to the socio-economic development of every society,” he said.
He said that agrarian communities required good road network to effectively move farm produce to markets outside their localities.
Some residents of the senatorial district who spoke to newsmen described the road project as timely and well-intended.
They expressed optimism that when completed, the road would tackle the transportation challenges being faced by the people.NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
