The Evergreen G6 Club of Abuja has paid the sum of N500,000 for Parent Teachers Association’s (PTA) levy of 250 pupils of the LEA Primary School, Maraba LokoTiye in Abuja.
The President of the Club, Mr Adesola Adewola, presented the cheque of N500,000 to the Head Teacher of the School, Mr Ibrahim Abdulwahab on Thursday at Mararaba LokoTiye, Abuja.
The club also donated customised exercise books to all the pupils in primary six.
Adewola, during the presentation, said that the club had carried out humanitarian gestures at the Old Peoples Home and donated typewriters to the School of the Blind to enhance learning.
“We have also been to schools like Government Secondary School, Karu where we identified brilliant but indigent students and paid for their WAEC, NECO and JAMB examinations.
“We further sponsored some of them to tertiary institutions in the country. Last year, we were at some schools in Karshi community where we donated classroom desks and other items.
“Today, we are here. We identified this school and observed that payment of PTA levy is a challenge. So, we are going to pay the levy for all the pupils, numbering 250 for this term.
“We are also going to give the pupils in primary six customised exercise books. These are done to create impact,” Adewola said.
Responding, the head teacher, Abdulwahab, appreciated the club for the donations.
“We thank the president of the club and appreciate all that you have done for us, but like Oliver Twist, we will like to get more. We thank you.”
Mr Fasuba Babatunde, the Project Chairman of the club, said that the payment of the PTA levy for the 250 pupils and donation of books are part of the club’s project for 2025.
He added that the next project for 2026 would be done later in the year.
Also speaking, the PTA Chairman of the school, Mr Godwin Ukadike, appreciated the club and assured that the levy would be judiciously used.
“Givers never lack. We appreciate you,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the school had about 250 pupils who are expected to pay N2000 each for PTA levy and had primaries one to six.
The payment of the PTA levy by the club would go a long way to lift the burden from the shoulders of parents and guardians of pupils in the school. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
