Ojaja University, Eiyenkonrin Ilorin, says it will undergo major transformations which will reposition the institution as a citadel of learning.
The Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof. Jeleel Ojuade, stated this in Ilorin at the 9th Matriculation for the 2025/2026 Undergraduate Degree Programme.
Ojuade disclosed that the Chancellor of the institution, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, had relinquished a large expanse of land in Ile-Ife dedicated to the university.
“Also, the National University Commission (NUC) has approved introduction of some new programmes for the institution.
“The management of the institution, governing council and the board of trustees are ensuring that projects are being completed both in the Ilorin and Ile-Ife campuses,” he said.
Ojuade added that the university was targeting world class trainers and introducing teaching online from trainers across the globe including Harvard University.
He reiterated the resolve of the institution to provide security for staff and students of the institution.
“There are internal security outfit and partnership in place with Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Army.
“We, however, appeal to the Federal Government to ensure maximum security for universities across the nation, as well as provide the necessary electricity for campuses,” he said.
Addressing the matriculating students, the VC charged them to adhere to the rules and regulations of the institution.
“Ojaja University has zero tolerance for all acts of misconduct.
“The university will swiftly apply appropriate sanctions against any student found engaging in any act of misconduct with the laid down rules,” he warned.
The guest speaker, Prof. Olugbenga Mokuolu, said that the students were on the path to meaningful contribution to the society.
Mokuolu, a lecturer at the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, spoke on the theme: “Beyond the Gown, Architecting Your Future on the Platform of University.”
He warned them against being misguided in their quest for knowledge, while urging them to imbibe character and learning.
