Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, said that the ongoing massive infrastructural development in satellite towns of the FCT will boost economic activities of the areas.
Wike stated this after he inspected ongoing road projects in Karu, Bwari, Kubwa and Apo-Karshi road in Abuja on Friday.
He explained that development followed President Bola Tinubu’s directives to extend the massive road network beyond the city centre to the satellite towns.
According to him, the move will not only boost economic activities in the satellite towns, but also improve the living conditions of the people.
He said that all the roads within Karu have been reconstructed by an indigenous company, adding that the contractor had done a good job.
The minister who also inspected the ongoing Apo-Karshi road, described it as one of the “very important” roads in the heart of Tinubu’s administration.
He explained that the road, awarded since 2010, experienced some setbacks, adding that the initial contract had to be terminated due to the importance of the road.
“Due to the importance of that road, we couldn’t wait any longer because of the excuses of the contractor.
“We had to seek the permission of Mr President and we got that job terminated and awarded it to SCC.
“You can see how serious the company is. Look at the kinds of equipment,” he said.
Wike also said that the Bwari-Kubwa Road and the Gbazango-Kubwa Road were other major infrastructural developments that would lift the economic activities of people in the areas.
He particularly said that the 16-17 kilometre Bwari–Kubwa Road, is expected to significantly ease traffic flow and stimulate commerce along the axis.
“It is a massive infrastructural development going on in the city and the satellite towns.
“Of course, the economy will change and people will be very happy.
“I’m happy that we have the opportunity to support Mr President to achieve his ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’,” Wike said. (NAN)
