Bata-Hamman said Shettima would represent the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, at the three-day summit.
She said that Shettima was accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who would be attending the 39th African Union Heads of State session on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.
The African First Ladies’ summit will focus on advancing the Organisation of African First Ladies for Developmet (OAFLAD) strategic priorities and addressing key internal issues.
The summit opens on Feb. 15 with the theme: “Building Resilience for Women and Girls: Climate, Conflict and Sustainable Futures.”
The wife of the vice president is expected to participate in meetings and discussions with other African First Ladies during the event.
The assembly will also provide a platform to strengthen collaboration on women’s empowerment and sustainable development initiatives across the continent.
Participants are expected to share strategies to tackle climate challenges, conflicts and resilience-building for women and girls in Africa.
Her participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to continental cooperation and advancement of women and girls. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
