The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta, on Saturday, conducted successful, hitchfree congresses in the 25 LGAs of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the party executives emerged through consensus in a peaceful and well-coordinated exercise.
The exercise recorded an impressive turnout of party faithful and was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies, party officials from the APC National Secretariat, Abuja, and the media.
The state party Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, earlier received members of the APC National Congress Committee assigned to Delta at the party secretariat in Asaba.
Sobotie commended the committee for the successful conduct of the ward congresses and urged them to adhere strictly to party guidelines in overseeing the LGA exercise.
In a remark, the Committee’s Secretary, Mr Simon Atigwe, assured the members that their mission was to ensure a “transparent and inclusive process” that would strengthen unity and internal harmony in the party.
Atigwe, who spoke to newsmen after monitoring the exercise across the three senatorial districts, expressed satisfaction with the level of participation of members and the orderly conduct of members in all the LGAs visited.
He described Delta as a special state for APC, given the peaceful atmosphere and adequate security arrangements in place.
Also, party stakeholders from across the LGAs in the state, including the Minister of Aviation, Mr Festus Keyamo, commended members for the successful exercise.
He urged them to work towards the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori in 2027.
In Ika North-East, former Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa and Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, also commended the transparent and inclusive nature of the exercise.
