The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) has confirmed that a fire outbreak at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja was swiftly brought under control.

The Controller General of the LSFRS, Mrs Margaret Adeseye, confirmed this in a statement issued on Monday  night in Lagos.

Adeseye said the fire was first reported at 3:52 p.m., and fire crews from the Isolo, Ikeja, Bolade, and Alausa Headquarters fire stations arrived at the scene by 4:05 p.m.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the blaze originated in the IT Server Room on the third floor of a five-storey building within the E-Wing of the Departure Lounge.

“The fire also affected the adjoining Radio Communication Room.

“Firefighters, in a coordinated effort with other federal and state emergency agencies, contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the facility,” she said.

The LSFRS boss stated that all 12 personnel present in the Control Tower were safely evacuated, with no injuries or trapped individuals reported.

She  credited the success of the operation to the prompt response and multi-agency collaboration, which ensured the safety of lives and property.

According to her, the situation is now under control, and a full investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
