Abuja, Feb. 28, 2026 (NAN) The Apostolic Lead of Revival House of Glory International Church (RHOGIC), Goodheart-Obi Ekwueme, has called on the Federal Government to ensure fairness and neutrality among all stakeholders as preparations begin for the 2027 General Elections.
Ekwueme made the call at the 2026 “Revival Is Here Again International Conference” (RIHA-IC 2026), organised by the church.
Speaking at the conference with the theme: “Jesus Christ My Obsession,” the cleric stressed the need to strengthen Nigeria’s judicial and legislative frameworks to guarantee credible, free and fair elections.
“The truth is that until our legal framework is strengthened judicially and legislatively, the electoral process will remain questionable and it will be difficult to achieve truly free and fair elections,” he said.
He said that many Nigerians were willing to participate in elections if they were assured that their votes would count.
“As we approach the 2027 elections, certain things must change for people to regain confidence in the process,” he said.
Citing the recent local government election in the FCT, Ekwueme attributed the low voter turnout to apathy caused by a lack of trust in the system.
“There was very low turnout, and the reasons are not far-fetched.
“People are not convinced that their votes will be counted,” he said.
He urged the government to take deliberate steps to restore public trust and ensure fairness in the electoral process.
“I want to encourage the government of the day to create a level playing field for everyone,” he added.
On the conference, Ekwueme described it as a divine mandate and the most significant programme of the church for the year.
According to him, the gathering provides an opportunity for people to reconnect with God, especially in the face of the nation’s numerous challenges.
“In these trying times in our country, those who know God will fare better than those who do not,” he said.
He explained that the theme of the conference was inspired months earlier and centred on renewed focus on Jesus Christ.
“The whole idea is to focus and refocus on the person of Jesus Christ as He is our Lord and Saviour.
