Dr David Olofu, a senatorial aspirant for 2027 Benue South Senatorial District, has outlined 12 priority areas for his legislative interventions.
His Campaign Coordinator, Adakole Elijah, in Abuja on Monday, said that Olofu unveiled the agenda at a meeting with socio-cultural groups from the senatorial district in Lagos.

Olofu listed his priority legislative areas to include agriculture and food security, education and human capital development, health and social welfare, entrepreneurship and youth empowerment.
Others, according to him, are ICT and innovation, infrastructure and road networks, local government reforms, security and peace building, law, order as well as justice, industry and energy partnerships.
Other areas listed were diaspora engagement, women and youth employment, and sports development.
Olofu said that his interest in 2027 Benue South Senatorial position followed his extensive consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders, professional and grassroots stakeholders.
This, he noted, had shaped his legislative agenda, encapsulated in four pillars of people, power, prosperity and progress.
The politician, who met with the socio-cultural groups from the nine local government areas that make up the senatorial district, underscored need for inclusive representation and accountable leadership.
He said that Benue South was endowed with enormous but untaped wealth, stating that it should be the collective responsibility of the people to convert the potential to sustainable prosperity for current and unborn generations.
According to him, effective representation should translate into equitable policies, balanced development and fair resource allocation across all communities in the district.
To ensure citizen participation, he said that plans were on to establish Benue South Peoples Assembly (BSPA) and Benue South Peoples Council (BSPC).
Olofu said that his legislative focused areas were designed to address pressing issues in the senatorial district, such as food insecurity, poor infrastructure and unemployment.
In his remarks, an elder statesman, Usman Lungu, urged people to mobilise support across party lines for Olofu.
Also, the Och’Idoma in Lagos, Chief Luke Akubo, offered prayers and blessings, commending the aspirant’s philanthropy, governance experience and commitment to emancipation of Idoma nation.
An entertainer, Chris Adaba, described the agenda as ambitious, adding however, that it reflected Olofu’s genuine commitment to Idoma cause.
Similarly, a community mobiliser, Cynthia Egwa, described the engagement as unprecedented, noting that it signalled a call for the people of Benue South to rally behind ‘a visionary leader’. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
