The Creative Visions Development Foundation (CVDEF), an Abuja based NGO, has equipped no fewer than 50 final year students of  FCT College of Education, Zuba, with  employable skills.

Mr Adebayo Adeyemi, Project Coordinator, CVDEF, spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday at the Youth Employability Workshop at FCT College of Education, Zuba.

NAN reports that the initiative-Youth Advocacy for Climate Action was implemented by CVDEF with support from Christian Aid, Nigeria.

Adeyemi expressed concern over the numerous challenges associated with unemployment in the country, adding that there was an urgent need to address the challenges and get  students ready for the labour market.

He said that the students were trained on employable skills, resume building, interview preparation, networking and personal branding.

Adeyemi said it was also expedient for the students to equally imbibe problem solving, critical thinking and goal setting as well as action planning in their pursuit for employment.

Mr Albert Pam facilitator, Youth Employability Workshop, CVDEF, said that the workshop was aimed at preparing youths to be employable at the labour market by not depending on whom they knew.

“This is a five-pact course looking at communication skills, curriculum vitae and resume, employable skills, interviews and then critical thinking with action planning alongside.

“Our desire to train this final year students of the FCT College of Education Zuba is basically to instill those qualities, attitude and behaviour that employers seek in the persons they want to employ.

“Employers are looking for people that will add value to their organisation; solve problems at their work place use technology and create new things at the workplace,” he noted.

Responding, Mr Abubakar Zuba, Dean, Student Affairs,  College of Education, Zuba, said that the training was timely for the final year students.

He commended the NGO for the gesture, assuring that the training would help all the final year students to secure better employment after graduation.
