APC Youth League urges Ganduje to wade into Abia APC crisis
By Deborah Coker
The Progressive League of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has expressed concern over what it termed as anti-party activities in the party in Abia.
Amb. Usman Shuaibu, National Coordinator of the league, said at a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja that the situation was becoming embarrassing to the party.
He said it was important for the party’s National Chairman, Dr Umar Ganduje to step in and reconcile the party members in the state.
Shuaibu said it was unfortunate that some leaders of the party were openly castigating the party’s standard bearer who had given her all to ensure the victory of the party in the last 2023 general election.
According to him, the campaign of calumny is largely against the person of Mrs NKeiruka Onyejeocha, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment.
Onyejeochaho had contested for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency seat, which she lost to Labour Party.
“Recall that some APC groups raised the alarm calling for the restoration of her mandate which she vigorously pursued at the tribunal and won.
“Since her victory at the tribunal which is an ultimate triumph for APC in Abia, some highly placed persons in the National Assembly have unleashed a campaign of calumny against her person.
”Using mushroom organisations to blackmail her and the APC in a bid to bully her to abandon her victory at the Appeal Court,” he claimed.
The national coordinator said that the league was worried why the victory of the APC and the minister should be detested by some party members.
“We know how some highly placed persons who are the major beneficiaries of the APC worked against the party in the last presidential elections in the guise of religion and tribal sentiment, thereby reducing the winning votes of our great party,” the league leader added.
Shuaibu therefore urged Ganduje to intervene before the situation degenerate to uncontrollable level.
He said that those involved should be made to face disciplinary action, “to serve as deterrent to others who may wish to indulge in such dangerous anti-party activity in the nearest future.” (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
