Climate Action: NGO donates waste bins to business premises in FCT
By Sarafina Christopher
Ready-to-Lead Africa (RLA), an NGO, has donated waste bins to some business premises in the FCT, to commemorate this year’s International Day for Climate Action.
Mr Godbless Otubure, Founder/President of the organisation said this when he led a delegation to present the items to the beneficiaries, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Otubure said the ecological waste bins were donated to business premises in FCT in furtherance of action against climate change and its corporate social responsibility to its host community.
“Today, we are donating two 240-litre waste bins to Bassan Plaza as part of our commitment to taking action on climate change.
“We will be handing it over to the management for proper usage as we intend to provide more to other business premises in the coming days.
“We cannot have a thriving democracy in Nigeria when the environment is in peril.
“We have witnessed heat waves, floods, and various natural disasters across the world but no matter how democratic a country is, if there is no environment for leaders to practice democracy, such democracy will not succeed.
“Part of the threat to democracy in the world is climate change. So for us, this is an opportunity to correct it and be a part of the driving force that helps the world as we protect and promote our democracy in Nigeria,” he said.
Representative of the Facility Manager, Bassan Plaza, Mr Adamu Usman who received the donation on behalf of the management, expressed appreciation to the organisation for the items donated.
He assured the donors of the management’s commitment to ensuring that the waste bins are used and managed judiciously. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
