The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has concluded plans to hold an interdenominational prayer to seek God’s intervention in the affairs of the union.
The Secretary of the Council, Comrade Ochiaka Ugwu, said in a statement on Tuesday that the interdenominational prayer would hold on Friday at the council.
He said the prayer session had become imperative to solicit the help and face of God concerning the state of the union.
According to him, the prayers are for all journalists and their relatives, in order to frustrate all evil plans against members and their families.
”The recent turn of events at the council is quite disturbing with many deaths and illnesses involving members and their relatives like never before.
”We consider this imperative in view of the fact that our union is passing through very challenging times at the moment, in spite of its abundant human and mental resources.
“NUJ is a vibrant and virile union that is full of vigor, resourcefulness, eggheads and has all it takes to be one of the greatest councils in the country.
”Regrettably, it has been bedeviled with misfortunes making it impossible for it not to be where it should be at the moment,” he said.
Ugwu said consequently, all journalists practicing in the territory and their relatives are invited to participate in the programme.
“All Chapel chairmen are directed to mobilise their members for the programme.
“Colleagues are to assemble at the NUJ FCT Council Secretariat, Utako, in Abuja for the prayer by 10:00 am.
“We urge all to join this solemn assembly in order to bring the union into a new era of peace, unity, safety and all-round prosperity,” he said.
Ugwu said that the union prays that the Almighty God would use the programme to address the spiritual dimensions of the challenges plaguing the union and frustrate every evil plans against the council. (NAN) (www.nannew.ng)
