The Nimbus Aid Project has awarded 40 million Naira in advertising support to 20 inspiring women entrepreneurs in a bid to empower women-led businesses in Nigeria.
Mr Wale Adegoke, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nimbus Media Ltd., on Monday in Lagos said the social impact initiative was to support these businesses amidst economic challenges.
He said the 2023 Nimbus Aid Project opportunity promised to enhance the businesses’ visibility, connect them with new customers and accelerate their growth.
Adegoke emphasised the importance of supporting women-led businesses, and recognising them as the backbone of the nation.
According to him, their unwavering commitment and sheer determination have allowed them to rise above the most trying circumstances.
“But they deserve more than just praise for their resilience; they deserve our collective support.
“As a community, Nigerians must ensure that these businesses not only survive but thrive, and the Nimbus Aid Project exemplifies our shared commitment to this responsibility.
“It is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together to uplift and empower one another,” the Nimbus boss said.
Dr Bunmi Kole-Dawodu, the Manager, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Lagos State, said if women participated in the economy at the same rate as men, the global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) could increase by 26 per cent.
Kole-Dawodu said to further advance women-led businesses, public policies should be gender-sensitive, ensure access to finance, resources, networks and foster a supportive business environment.
Uche Uzoebo, the Chief Stakeholder Engagement Officer, Shared Agent Network Expansion Facilities Limited (SANEF) Nigeria, underscored the profound connection between building sustainable and inclusive business ecosystems and societal impact.
She stated that the business landscape could catalyse positive change, emphasising the broader implications of fostering an environment that supported women-led businesses.
Ms Cikü Mugambi, CEO of Kobo 360, said the transformative power of businesses would drive societal change and provide positive impact.
Mr Edward Israel-Ayide, Founder, Carpe Diem Solutions, lauded the efforts of large corporations who partnered in bringing the Nimbus Aid Project 2023 to life.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the project, established in 2016, had a history of supporting 13 organisations, 11 of which are women-led.
The Nimbus Aid Project has provided 35 million Naira worth of Digital Out-Of-Home (DOOH) advertising, generating over 2.8 million unique views to beneficiaries in key Nigerian cities. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
