A political group, ‘MBA For Speaker Advocacy’ has commended Nigerians for supporting its candidate, Muktar Betara’s bid for the speakership of the 10th assembly.
Leader of the group, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, made the commendation while addressing journalists on the mission of the group in Abuja on Wednesday.
Betara, a fifth-time member of the House of Representatives representing Biu, Kwaya-Kusar, Bayo and Shani Federal Constituency of Borno state, is among the strong contenders of the speakership.
Ibrahim, who said the group set up by Betara’s constituents cutting across all political parties ahead of the speakership contest, explained that the candidate was most qualified for the post following his good representation.
“We, from Betara’s constituency have received an unequalled development through his representation which has provided social amenities ranging from roads, schools, hospitals, skills acquisition to human capital development throughout the four local government areas.
“He has maintained very close contact with his constituents and hardly use his contact offices but regularly meets his people physically to hear and respond to their needs.
“We strongly believe that his emergence as the speaker of the 10th assembly will give him the opportunity to replicate such good representation to all parts of the country as he will definitely encourage his members to do so.
“The overwhelming support he has continued to receive from his colleagues and other Nigerians attest to how well he has been doing to his people and while serving as committee chairman on appropriation,” she said.
She said Betara had visited and secured the support of the Borno state government, the Shehu Borno and the state’s chapter of the party.
She expressed confidence in Betara’s ability to pilot the affairs of the 10th assembly to the satisfaction of Nigerians.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
