The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), on Tuesday dissociated itself from a notice asking its members to apply for loans and to make certain payments into a commercial bank account.
AFAN, in a statement by its president, Dr Farouk Rabiu-Mudi, said it had nothing to do with the notice and had no such plan at the moment.
“It has come to our notice that some individuals are sending information purported to be from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and food security to all our members.
“They are asking them to register and apply for loan, requesting them to pay an amount into a WEMA Bank account with support from AFAN.
“We hereby bring to the knowledge and notice of the general public and AFAN members that the association is not aware of any development regarding the issuance of loans to any group or members of any association.
“AFAN, therefore, advises the general public and the members of AFAN to ignore the notice because AFAN does not have a Wema Bank account in the first place,” Rabiu-Mudi, said.
The AFAN president described the notice as a fake one designed by frauds to rob innocent and unsuspecting members of the public of their hard-earned money.
According to him, the fake notice was crafted with the aim of dragging the good name of the association in the mud and to cause disaffection within the group.
“This is fraudulent because our website account has been hacked. So the general public is hereby warned that fraudsters are on the prowl using information about us to defraud them,” the AFAN president said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

Report to EFCC or any security agency so as to arrest the culprits and the owner of the account.
How about this one we are asked to pay ₦2000 to a MFB for acceptance of loan offer is it from the association
I have sent money to them thinking that is real.
Afan all
the best. Thanks
I messed up, I already made the transaction.
Lord have mercy.
I also send the money on Thursday but the account name is money point.
I’ve also made the payment but to Moniepoint account this time not wema, i wonder how they got my information and location of my farming place that’s what makes me to pay not knowing that its a fraudsters.
See, one thing is sure, the website was hacked … But the important thing is that, the AFAN actually have my details and must have been using my details to collect and the loaned been diverted to someones account. Something is clearly fishy with AFAN.
The AFAN body should urgently do something to seize the site of these people impersonating them thereby exploiting the masses…
This is quite unspeakable.
Yes o… They should be able to track and shut their operation. I almost made the payment but decided to search the internet for the authenticity and holla, I got this new.
Thanks for this vital information..I was sent message also this morning requesting me to make payment for clearance
So this whole thing was designed to defraud the masses AFAN Should make a quick publication to stop this nonsense
