The Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society (AIS) says it has trained hundreds of youths and Islamic scholars in digital skills to strengthen their financial independence and spiritual impacts in the country.

The Chief Imam of the society, Shiek Fuad Adeyemi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after a two-day training organised by AIS for the youths, that the programme would go a long way in empowering Nigerian youths.

The programme, with the theme “Promoting Digitally Skilled Youths for Corrupt Free Society”, is also geared towards the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

Adeyemi stressed the need to positively engage the youths and think out of the box for solutions, especially with the economic hardship in the country.

“When the young people are positively engaged; they will be better for themselves; they will cater for themselves, and they will be better for the entire nation.

“We have been doing this for the past six years, but incidentally, this programme which we are running under what we call Project Eat Halal, is the last one.

“And we are trying to now create a new set of programmes that will also run for another three to four years,” he said.

The Imam said that Al-Habibiyyah had trained more than 250 youths across the country, and planned to do more.

“On the digital training, it cannot be less than 250 youths, which we have trained as of today. Because we have done this in Abuja, Lagos, Sokoto, Osun, and also in Kaduna.

“Among those people we have trained, we have gotten nothing less than 30 of them that are already working with it, and they are making money, they are independent,” he said.

Adeyemi explained that apart from the youths, AIS was also training Imams and Islamic scholars to make them more financially independent.

“Apart from the youths, we are training imams on how to talk against corruption, and also be self-sufficient on entrepreneurship.

“When you want to talk to the imams, they also need to have something which they are doing.

“We have trained many imams that now have businesses which they combine with their work, and they are able to say the truth without waiting for what anybody will say or do,” he said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
