The 3-Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme aims to shape Nigeria’s digital workforce and support President Bola Tinubu’s vision of two million digital jobs for the youth.
Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijjani, stated this in Katsina during the fourth edition of the Youth Opportunity Summit.
The summit, themed ‘Leveraging Opportunities: Building a Future-Ready Youth’, was organised by Hajiya Hauwa Liman, Technical Adviser to the Vice President on Women, Youth Engagement and Impact.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Liman also founded the Inspire for Impact Initiative, a non-governmental organisation.
The Minister said the programme’s goal is to create a skilled workforce and position Nigeria as a global leader in the digital economy and talent export.
He explained that Europe’s ageing population will soon face a workforce shortage, creating opportunities for digitally skilled Africans to fill the gap.
Tijjani stressed that Nigeria’s youthful population must be equipped with relevant skills to thrive in the emerging global economy.
He noted that in Katsina State alone, over 3,000 people have received training, with more sessions planned.
In his remarks, Sen. Ibrahim Idah, Chancellor of Yar’adua University, praised the summit as a significant achievement.
Speaking through the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shehu Salihu, he said the initiative could help shape Nigeria’s future positively.
Earlier, Liman revealed the summit had so far reached over 6,500 young people across northern Nigeria.
She noted that previous editions were held at Bayero University Kano, Kaduna State University, and Federal University Dutse in Jigawa.
According to Liman, the summit was born from a vision to inspire, equip, and empower Nigerian youths to realise their full potential.
“This has been achieved through mentorship, entrepreneurship training, leadership development, and educational and professional support.
“This summit is now more than an event. It is a movement for resilience and preparing our youth for the future.
“I am proud of our collective achievements and hopeful for the future we are building together,” Liman said.
