โThe News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a rampaging Victor Osimhen netted a stunning hat-trick as Nigeria cruised to victory in Uyo, booking a spot in the African playoffs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

โIn a statement by his spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday, Tinubu hailed the Super Eagles for reigniting hope among millions of football-loving Nigerians for the mundial.

โNAN reports that in spite of the emphatic win, Nigeria narrowly missed out on automatic qualification as South Africa topped Group C with a 3โ0 win over Rwanda in Johannesburg.

โThe Super Eagles now face the CAF playoffs, joining the three best second-placed teams across the nine qualifying groups.

โThe playoffs will feature a semifinal-final format, with winners advancing to a FIFA interconfederation playoff for a potential tenth African World Cup spot.
