In a bid to increase access to clean energy, no fewer than 150 solar panel installers, and distributors were trained in Lagos on Wednesday, empowering them to serve more homes and businesses.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the training, with the theme, โUnveiling a Future with Renewable Energy in Nigeriaโ, was organised by C&D, a Chinese supply chain company, in partnership with AIpsolarr and Suness, Chinese solar energy companies.
Speaking at the event, Mr Luo Zhangbao, C&D Regional Manager, emphasised the need for collaboration to turn Nigeriaโs energy challenges into opportunities.
โFor us as a partner company, we want to train more Nigerian youth installers. We want them to know more skills. We also want people to know that the renewable energy space is not just about panels, inverters and solar. We want them to know about the economic benefits it can bring.
โAlso, we want to create more awareness about clean energy in Nigeria. As the world transitions, we do not want to be left behind. We also want to follow this trajectory and to also cut costs to be able to build our industries because one of the things that is drawing back our industry is power.
โSo, in a bid to provide sustainable power and alternative power for people, we want to train people in a way to use alternative power. So, this is why weโre doing the training,โ he said.
He said the event was also an avenue for the solar energy companies to know what is obtainable in the market and then to train people.
He said C&D had built a network connecting over 170 countries and regions.
โIn the new energy sector, we specialise in integrating global resources for photovoltaics and energy storage, delivering end-to-end supply chain solutions that turn technological potential into market reality. Today, we stand with two exceptional partners to address Nigeriaโs most pressing energy needs.
โFirst, Alpsolarr, the worldโs finest off-grid inverter brand. In a market where 90 million Nigerians face power shortages and grids suffer frequent fluctuations , Appsolarrโs technology is transformative.
โIts inverters, built to withstand Nigeriaโs high temperatures, dust, and humidity, ensure stable power conversion for both households and businesses, turning intermittent solar energy into reliable electricity.
โThen Suness, the brand tailor-made for Nigeriaโs market. With the Nigerian government launching a , 000 billion Naira solar programme and electricity costs soaring by over 230 per cent , Sunnessโs energy storage solutions hit the mark.
โDesigned for local conditions, they perfectly complement Appsolarrโs inverters, helping families power appliances and businesses reduce reliance on costly diesel generators,โ Zhangbao said.
A facilitator, Mr Stephen Ajiboye, noted that with the solar market in Nigeria becoming increasingly saturated, it was crucial for installers to stay updated on the latest features and technologies.
โWith the way the solar market is going now, thereโs going to be more injection of solar products into that market and those that will stand will be the ones with the unique selling points,โ Ajiboye said.
Mrs Ifeoma Nwafor of Dinnis Investment Ltd., a participant, commended the organisers of the event, stating that the training was a welcome development that would help boost competitiveness in the market.
NAN also reports that the highlights of the event included product unveil, interaction with full product lineup, including new inverters and compatible battery storage systems and a lucky draw. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
