The Public Enlightenment Movement Project says the ongoing 2,136-kilometre Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway will significantly boost trade, ease travel and strengthen national integration across northern and southern parts of the country.

The Coordinator of the Movement, Mr Nuhu Abdullahi, stated this in Kano at the launch of the second phase of the Public Enlightenment Movement Project.

Abdullahi said the project would connect eight states Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos and open new economic opportunities for millions of Nigerians.

He explained that the first phase of the programme focused on showcasing the visible transformation taking place across Northern Nigeria through federal investments in infrastructure, agriculture and social development.

“In this second phase, we are highlighting new federal projects, including the 2,136km Sokoto Badagry Superhighway.

“This road will enhance trade, facilitate mobility and strengthen unity between regions,” he said.

Abdullahi also listed the dualisation of the 926-kilometre Sokoto–Zamfara–Zaria Road as another major ongoing project aimed at improving travel and economic activities across the North-West and North-Central Zones.

“Similarly, the Benue–9th Mile Enugu Road, covering 500 kilometres, is expected to ease the movement of goods and strengthen economic ties between the North and the South-East,” he added.

The coordinator said equitable fund allocations to Northern states and renewed security operations had restored confidence among communities and encouraged participation in national development.

He urged the citizens to complement government efforts by providing timely information to security agencies and support peacebuilding initiatives.

“This phase reinforces trust and demonstrates President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to Northern Nigeria.

“We must remain united and support these initiatives to guarantee long-term growth and stability,” he said.

Abdullahi thanked the participants for their support and expressed optimism that the ongoing federal projects would transform livelihoods and stimulate economic progress across the region. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
