The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has donated food items to over 6,000 junior police families nationwide ahead of the yuletide.
The PCRC National Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Olaniyan, said this on Tuesday in Abuja, while presenting the items to beneficiaries at the Force Headquarters.
Olaniyan said the donation was to identify with the junior police officers at Yuletide, celebrate with them and in recognition of their sacrifices in the protection of lives and property.
The chairman said the sacrifices of the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force were enormous and could not be equated to any donation.
“As we go into the yuletide, we know that the majority of the Christian police officers will be in the field, while the majority of Nigerians are doing merrymaking with their families.
“The majority of them cannot travel to celebrate with their loved ones, but rather, will be in the field protecting Nigerians.
“The donation is to appreciate their good work and the good work of the Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr Kayode Egbetokun, because we are partners in progress,” he said.
Olaniyan called on Nigerians to take advantage of the season to show love and gratitude to each other, especially to those protecting the country.
”As we make our journeys to celebrate with our loved ones, let us show love to personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies on duty.
“We encourage Nigerians to show love and appreciate police officers on duty as we travel to celebrate with our loved ones, no matter how little it may be, it will certainly go a long way.
“PCRC has chosen to lead by example in the appreciation because it is a major body that interfaces between the Nigeria Police Force and the public.”
He called on the Churches, corporate bodies and other well-meaning Nigerians to identify, and appreciate personnel of the Nigeria Police Force during this season and beyond. (NAN)
