Kosofe Local Government Area in Lagos State has unveiled the first government-owned ambulance bay in the state with the inauguration of Ogudu Ambulance Bay.

Mr Moyosore Ogunlewe made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.

Ogunlewe described the facility as a critical intervention aimed at improving emergency medical response at the grassroots.

He disclosed that the local government provided the land and necessary support for the development of the facility by the state government.

“We made the space available and ensured full cooperation because the safety and health of our people remain a top priority,” he said.

He noted that the ambulance bay would help address delays often experienced during medical emergencies.

“Many lives are lost due to late response. With this ambulance bay, emergency cases can now be attended to faster, especially within Kosofe and its environs,” he said.

The chairman also pledged that the council would procure a fully equipped ambulance to strengthen the operations of the facility.

“Beyond hosting the ambulance bay, we are committed to complementing the state’s effort by providing a fully equipped ambulance to further boost service delivery,” Ogunlewe said.

According to him, the project reflects effective collaboration between the state and local governments in delivering people-oriented infrastructure.

“This is what governance should be about – partnership, shared responsibility and practical solutions that directly impact the lives of residents,” he said.

He assured residents that the council would continue to support initiatives targeted at improving healthcare and emergency services in the area.

“Our administration will continue to prioritise projects that protect lives and promote the well-being of our people,” Ogunlewe added.

The Ogudu Ambulance Bay is expected to serve Kosofe LGA and neighbouring communities, strengthening Lagos State’s emergency response network and improving access to critical healthcare services. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
