A 60-year-old man named Sanusi Ayodele was arraigned at Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Monday for alleged conspiracy, shop breaking, and stealing.

The incident occurred on Jan. 7, at around 10:00 a.m. at Ogunpa market, where he and unidentified others reportedly broke into Mrs Omotayo Adeneye’s shop and stole baby beds and clothes valued at seven million naira.

Ayodele pleaded not guilty.

The charges violate Sections 390(9), 411, and 516 of Oyo State’s Criminal Law, 2000.Magistrate Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted him bail of one million naira with two reliable sureties and adjourned the case to March 3 for hearing.(www.nannews.ng)

In Ibadan, police arraigned 28-year-old mechanic Mayowa Stephen at Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court for fraudulent trick, obtaining money under false pretence, and malicious damage.

He allegedly took N734,000 from customer Joe Ehiawi in 2024 to repair a Ford vehicle but damaged it instead and failed to fix it, violating Oyo State Criminal Law sections 419, 421, and 451.

Stephen pleaded not guilty and Magistrate Oluwabusayo Osho granted N500,000 bail with two sureties and adjourned to March 10.(www.nannews.ng)

Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court sentenced 20-year-old farmer Samuel Ortega to three months of sweeping court premises (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, 7:30-11 a.m.) for criminal conspiracy, attempted theft, and mischief.

On July 11, 2025, he and another trespassed at Nigerian Air Force Base, Makurdi, to steal armoured cables, was shot and treated, escaped hospital, then rearrested January 12, violating Benue Penal Code sections 97, 353, 289, and 398.

Ortega pleaded guilty and begged mercy; Magistrate Regina Alashi tampered justice with mercy.(www.nannews.ng)

In the Federal High Court in Abuja, DSS amended its charge against Sahara Reporters publisher Omoyele Sowore, dropping X Inc. and Meta as co-defendants, for alleged cyberstalking of President Bola Tinubu via his X and Facebook pages.

DSS counsel Akinlolu Kehinde, SAN, sought to read the two-count charge before Justice Mohammed Umar; Sowore’s lawyer Marshal Abubakar did not oppose.

Sowore pleaded not guilty as trial commencement began.

A Jos Area Court sentenced Rito Yakubu, Byes Choji, and Surama Dauda to six months each for stealing and abetment of stealing N900,000.

Reported Nov. 3, 2025, at C Division police station by Raphael Chukmma, violating Plateau State Penal Law 2017.

The trio pleaded guilty; Judge Irene Pati also ordered N918,000 compensation.
A Jos Area Court sentenced Destiny Okopi to six months or N30,000 fine for deceit and stealing N60,000, reported Nov. 25, 2025, at Nasarawa Gwong Police Station by Emmanuel Israel.

Okopi deceived Israel’s salesperson, confessed during investigation, and had the money recovered, violating Plateau State Penal Code 2017.

He pleaded guilty and Judge Irene Pati imposed the sentence.(NAN) www.nannews.ng

Two men, Olajide Alice (50) and Adekunle Micheal (34), were arraigned before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 10 bags of oranges valued at N200,000.

They are facing charges of conspiracy, forceful entry, illegal occupancy, stealing, malicious damage and placing the complainant in fear of physical injury, allegedly committed on Sept. 27, 2025, at Aba Otun Farm, Osi-Okero, Ile-Ife.

Police said the oranges belonged to one Damilola Adetoye, and that the defendants also allegedly entered and took illegal possession of farmland owned by Mr Solomon Adekunle.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Taofeek Badmus granted each defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum, who must each own landed property worth N1million and be gainfully employed.

At the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, a prosecution witness, ACP Umar Babangida (PW3), testified that former Minister of Power and Steel, Dr Olu Agunloye, did not exceed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s financial approval limits in relation to the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power project.

Obasanjo had directed that no minister could approve contracts above N25 million without written presidential consent.

Babangida stated under cross-examination that this directive was followed in the recommendation of Sunrise Power and Transmission Company Limited (SPTCL) for the project.

Agunloye is being prosecuted by the EFCC on an amended seven-count charge, including disobedience to presidential directive, conspiracy, forgery and receiving gratification in relation to an alleged 6 billion dollar fraud.(www.nannews.ng)

And in Kano State, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Abdulkarim Kabiru-Maude, SAN, has formally taken over the prosecution of the alleged murder of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar (35), and her six children at Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano.

The killings, which occurred on Jan. 17, led to the arrest of three principal suspects now in police custody.

Acting on the directive of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Ministry of Justice is assuming responsibility for the case to ensure justice, transparency and adherence to due process.(www.nannews.ng)
