Ms Rukayat Abu, a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Correspondent, has won the 2025 Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Media Personality Award.

The President of MAN, Chief Francis Meshioye, announced this on Wednesday in Lagos at the 10th edition of the MAN Media Personality of the Year Award Ceremony and 2026 Presidential Luncheon.

Meshioye lauded Abu for her in-depth and meticulous reportage in 2025, noting that her work reflected dedication, professionalism and a deep understanding of Nigeria’s industrial landscape.

He said that Abu emerged winner in the online media category, giving NAN pride of place.

According to him, the MAN Media Award initiative was conceived a decade ago to strengthen collaboration between the media and the association, while creating a platform to celebrate impactful journalism.

Meshioye described the media as a driving force in the attainment of manufacturers’ goals, noting that it amplifies advocacy, interrogates policies, challenges assumptions and gives visibility to the realities of Nigerian manufacturers.

“Through your reportage, our positions on industrial policy, manufacturing competitiveness, energy security, local content development and the macroeconomic environment in general have remained firmly on the national agenda.

“When we speak of patronage of Made-in-Nigeria products, your pen has greatly contributed to transforming that slogan into a national imperative.

“When we advocate against stifling policies, it is your platforms that have accelerated the persuasion of government to listen.

“For this, we remain deeply grateful,” he said.

Ms Nkechinyere Mba, General Manager, Corporate Services Division, MAN, urged reporters not to relent in their journalism efforts as the association rolls out its 2026 activities.

Mba said the MAN media award had helped the Corporate Services Division evaluate the quality of media reportage and recognise journalists who had shown outstanding performance.

She lauded the media for the enormous work done in placing MAN and manufacturing activities in the limelight.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that while Abu emerged winner in the online media category, Mr Tony Nwakaegho of Gentech News emerged as first runner-up.

In the print newspaper category, Mr Yinka Kolawole of Vanguard emerged winner, while Mr Arinze Nwafor of The Punch was first runner-up.

In the television category, Ms Ini John-Mekwa of Channels Television emerged winner, while Mr Abiola Ismail of MITV emerged as first runner-up.

In the radio category, Mrs Ebere Obike-Franklin of Radio Nigeria emerged winner, while Mrs Sherifat Ajoke of Bond FM 92.9 emerged as first runner-up.

In the photojournalism category, Mr Temitope Aina of Daily Sun emerged winner, while Mr Akeem Salau of Vanguard was first runner-up. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
