The Programme Coordinator of Obedient Movement Worldwide, Dr Ben Onwudinjo, says a technical public lecture to be delivered by the National Coordinator of the movement, Dr Yunusa Tanko, will help strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

This was contained in a statement issued by Onwudinjo on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said the lecture will be delivered to 2025/2026 students undergoing the nine-month Professional Diploma Course in Election Monitoring and Administration at the Human Resources Development Centre, University of Lagos.

Onwudinjo noted that the lecture, scheduled for Feb. 16, aligns with the mandate of the Human Resources Development Centre, which aims to train skilled personnel for electoral processes.

“The nine-month professional diploma course seeks to train 10,000 critical human resources capable of serving as political party agents, local and international election monitors, and observers,” he said.

He added that graduates could also serve as ad-hoc staff, volunteers, supervisors, and technical personnel for the 2027 general elections, contributing to the growth and stability of democracy in Nigeria.

“Dr Yunusa is expected to share his on-the-job field experience in political party administration to enhance the trainees’ capacity to deliver credible election monitoring in 2027.

“Candidates who successfully complete the programme will be assisted in securing gainful employment during and after the 2027 elections,” Onwudinjo said.

He further encouraged members of the public to benefit from the series of online technical lectures offered under the programme.

Onwudinjo explained that interested candidates seeking the Professional Diploma Certificate in Election Monitoring and Administration from the University of Lagos should register formally via hrdc.unilag.edu.ng.

“Click on 2025/2026 admission, go to the page for the professional diploma in Election Monitoring and Administration, and follow the instructions, including payment of the relevant fees,” he said.

He added that Yunusa has agreed to provide a 30-page, well-researched term paper following the lecture to all participants, and the best 500 submissions will be rewarded handsomely. (NAN)
