Abuja, Feb. 7, 2026 (NAN) Nigerians in Diaspora Chamber of Commerce (NiDCC) has felicitated its Board of Trustees Chairman, Prof. Pat Utomi, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

This is contained in a statement issued by NiDCC President and Chief Executive Officer, Patience Ofure-Key, in Abuja on Saturday.

Ofure-Key described Utomi’s life as a rare blend of intellectual excellence, courageous public engagement and unwavering commitment to principled leadership in national development discourse.

She noted that for decades, Utomi had shaped Nigeria’s political economy debates, explaining why nations rise or fail and advocating values-driven governance as foundations for sustainable prosperity.

“He founded the Center for Values in Leadership, advancing responsible leadership, civic virtue and human dignity, while influencing governance, business ethics and public accountability,” she remarked.

Ofure-Key noted that the renowned political-economist’s messages remained relevant amid global uncertainty and domestic pressures, stressing that prosperity could not emerge from broken values, weak accountability or politics devoid of service.

The chief executive officer emphasised that within NiDCC, Utomi had contributed scholarly discipline and reform-minded patriotism, urging members to build enduring systems and institutions rather than mere slogans, sentiment or temporary gestures.

“At 70, NiDCC salutes Utomi as an inspiring teacher, ethical enterprise advocate, principled patriot and trusted institutional leader, strengthening its mission and national development efforts.

“In honoring him, NiDCC renews a call for values-based leadership, transparent governance, productive enterprise and inclusive growth that improves daily lives of Nigerians,” she added.

Ofure-Key, congratulated Utomi and wished him continued health, joy and influence, as he inspires generations toward building a Nigeria that works.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
