Dr Abdullahi Ibrahim, Managing-Director of Askuni Nigeria, has reiterated the need for adequate investment in knowledge sharing platforms focused on advancing children’s higher education to achieve meaningful progress.
Ibrahim disclosed this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), against backdrop of the fourth annual Askuni education fair organised by the organisation on Wednesday in Abuja.
The fair seeks to foster educational opportunities and promote academic growth by bringing leading universities from Turkey and other countries to dialogue with students, parents and educational professionals in Nigeria.
According to him, the fair provided vibrant platform for compatriots to explore educational study opportunities abroad, gain insights into career pathways, access information on scholarships, application procedures and admission processes.
Ibrahim said, “It is important to invest in children’s education and to create new field for them to explore knowledge sharing platforms with international best practices, particularly European education quality.
“This is because Europe standard curriculums, quality of education, infrastructures, laboratories and classes are all state-of-the-art with professors, and teachers mostly products of top 500 universities from across the world.
“So, investment in such knowledge sharing will enable parent, students and schools to access platforms for advancing higher education for a low tuition fee with international best practices.
“Most Nigerians are not familiar with this, so we try to inform them and provide them the requisite information that can help them make informed decisions and invest in their children’s future.”
He emphasised that such informed the basis for bringing the universities and students together in Nigeria, to close the lingering gaps in communication and misinformation about education.
According to him, the fair is for all to gain knowledge on how to access opportunities for advancing studies for free in the areas of e-learning, digital divide and Artificial Intelligence (AI) among others.
“Turkey, an advanced country is a G-20 country and ranks among the top 10 tourist destination in the world with all the infrastructures and conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.
“They have all the resources needed for students to thrive, so studying in Turkey is as if you have become global citizen and can favourably compete intellectually anywhere in the world.
“25 different Turkish schools and not less than 1,000 Nigerian students attended the fair to get first-hand information, hopefully more people can access suitable educational programmes and institutions,” he said.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
