The Seed Entrepreneurs Association of Nigeria (SEEDAN), with Sahel Consulting Agriculture and Nutrition, unveiled a 2026–2030 Strategic Plan in Abuja to improve delivery of high-quality seeds to farmers.
SEEDAN President, Mr Yusuf-Ado Kibiya, said the initiative goes beyond planning and demonstrates commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s seed system and empowering the agricultural sector.
He said the plan tackles challenges facing seed companies through stronger governance, improved seed quality and sustainable partnerships across the value chain.
Kibiya noted that SEEDAN plays a catalytic role in advancing national food security and boosting regional agricultural competitiveness.
He added that the association promotes translation of research innovations into farmer benefits while advocating policies and investments that support a thriving seed business environment.
Kibiya commended Sahel Consulting and stakeholders for supporting the plan’s development and called for continued collaboration to ensure successful implementation.
He said the development plan was financed by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) and developed through partnership with Sahel Consulting.
According to him, SEEDAN will deepen global engagement and strengthen collaboration with the National Agricultural Seeds Council to enhance seed policy, regulation and quality assurance.
Hauwa Ali of Sahel Consulting said the strategy focuses on building institutional capacity and governance for more effective service delivery to members and farmers.
She added that it promotes financial sustainability, diversified revenue and stronger policy advocacy, positioning SEEDAN as a resilient, credible and influential institution within Nigeria’s seed sector. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
