The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to institutionalising a culture of ethical and measurable performance across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), with emphasis on accountability, productivity and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, stated this at the 2025 Reward and Recognition Ceremony held at the Federal Ministry of Justice on Monday in Abuja.
Fagbemi described the recognition of high-performing individuals and agencies as strategic, noting that it was firmly rooted in the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (2025), ministerial deliverables and national justice policy.
“The ministry and its agencies have demonstrated remarkable resilience, aligning operations with national priorities and embedding a culture of results across the justice value chain,” he said.
He commended legal officers, administrators, researchers and support staff for their achievements, urging them to recommit to professionalism, collaboration and service excellence.
In her remarks, the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Beatrice Jedy-Agba, described the awardees as officers who exceeded expectations and demonstrated courage and responsibility in upholding public trust.
She said the initiative was designed to reinforce a culture of merit and accountability across the justice sector.
“I urge you to remain committed to addressing institutional and sectoral challenges, with a shared resolve to uphold the rule of law and deliver services that command public confidence,” she said.
The Director of Human Resource Management, Mabel Erastus, noted that the recognition aligned with ongoing efforts to motivate the workforce for improved service delivery.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that awardees selected by the Ministerial Award Committee were drawn from the ministry’s headquarters and zonal offices, while directorate-level recipients came from agencies under the ministry.
They included officials from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, National Human Rights Commission, Nigerian Law School, and the Nigerian Law Reform Commission, among others.
The ceremony formed part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening institutional performance, transparency and justice sector service delivery nationwide. (NAN)
