The Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, has unveiled the distribution of cash and food items worth over ₦200 million to the people of Goronyo Local Government Area.
Goronyo, in a statement signed by Mr Abdullahi Mohammed, Special Assistant Media to the minister on Tuesday in Abuja,said the gesture was in the spirit of compassion, solidarity, and responsible leadership.
Goronyo explained that the intervention was aimed at supporting vulnerable households and easing economic pressures as Muslims prepare for the holy month of Ramadan.
He said, “The annual initiative, which has become a consistent feature outreach to my constituents, underscores my unwavering commitment to social welfare, inclusive governance, and grassroots empowerment.
“The support package comprised substantial cash donations and essential food items including rice, millet, sugar, guinea corn, maize, and wrappers.
“The total value of the intervention exceeded ₦200 million, ensuring that beneficiaries observe Ramadan with dignity, comfort, and renewed hope.”
Goronyo said that as part of the exercise, ₦33 million was disbursed to Local Government and Ward Executives.
He added that members of the Local Government Executive received ₦100,000 each, while some executive members received ₦50,000 each.
He added that other beneficiaries included:Goronyo Social Media Group,Goronyo Youths Association,APC Youth Mobilisation, Goronyo ,Eight elderly community leaders.
Goronyo Students Association, Former Councillors of Goronyo, defectors and women’s associations.
He said that in addition to the cash support, three trailer loads of rice valued at approximately ₦90 million, bags of sugar worth N28 million were distributed alongside large quantities of millet and wrappers.
Institutions such as NOWA, the Ministry of Justice (Magistrate & Courts), and INEC also benefited from the Ramadan intervention.
Goronyo expressed profound appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu, for his bold economic reforms and infrastructural drive across the country.
He stated that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President has strengthened governance and laid the foundation for sustainable national development. (NAN)
