Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCat), Nyesom Wike, says the FCT Administration will consider providing critical infrastructure in the newly opened Waru-Pozema District, to enable residents and developers to move in.
Wike stated this after he inspected the ongoing dualisation of the Outer Southern Expressway, from Ring Road I to Ring Road II and other projects in Abuja on Thursday.
He said the Administration would work with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and other relevant agencies to provide basic infrastructure in the district, located in Cadastral Zone D16.
He added that although he was not sure if the district was captured in the FCT 2026 budget, something would be done to open the area for development.
“About the new district, Waru-Pozema in Cadastral Zone D16, we have to find out from the FCDA or the Coordinator of Satellite Towns Development Department what they have in mind, and whether it is captured in the 2026 budget.
“But don’t worry, we will do everything we can to provide the needed infrastructure and open up the district so that people can move in,” he said.
The Minister, who also inspected the ongoing construction of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal Complex in Dakibiyu, expressed satisfaction with the pace of work.
He expressed optimism that the project would be completed in May and inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu to celebrate his third anniversary.
He added that the 40 housing units Judges’ Quarters, which included furnishing, were equally near completion and would be inaugurated by Tinubu.
The Minister also inspected the ongoing construction of a ring road in Katampe, and commended the contractor for the pace and quality of work so far.
Wike explained that his routine inspection of ongoing projects across the FCT was based on his motivation to serve and encouraged by Tinubu’s support. (NAN)
