The Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) has called on Muslims to sustain acts of charity, compassion and community support beyond the Ramadan period.
In a statement by its National President, Mohammed Uthman Jagunmo, and National Publicity Secretary, Abdullahi Abdulfatahi Oloyin, on Thursday in Ilorin, the association felicitated the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid el-Fitri.
It said that Eid-el-Fitri should serve as a period of reflection, urging Muslims to sustain the values of sacrifice, discipline and generosity beyond the holy month.
“Eid is not only a time of celebration but also a moment for deep reflection on the lessons of Ramadan.
“We urge Muslims to sustain these virtues and continue to extend love and support to the less privileged in society,” the association said.
It commended Muslims for their devotion and acts of worship during Ramadan, noting that the spirit of giving must continue as a tool for social support and community development.
IEYDA also acknowledged the contributions of donors and philanthropists who supported its humanitarian programmes, particularly its 11th Annual Lailatul Qadr initiative, which it said impacted many vulnerable persons.
The group stressed that sustained compassion and grassroots interventions remained critical to national development, urging Nigerians to promote peace, unity and collective responsibility.
“As we celebrate Eid al-Fitri, we urge all Muslims to reflect on the lessons of Ramadan and continue to uphold righteousness, while extending love and support to the less privileged,” the union added.
IEYDA further called on governments at all levels, especially the Kwara State Government, to sustain people-centred policies and interventions that uplift vulnerable communities.
It added that meaningful development thrives in an atmosphere of shared responsibility and care. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
