A Magistrates’ Court in Jos on Monday sentenced a 20-year-old unemployed man, John Bawa to two years imprisonment for stealing and insulting his mother.

The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati, sentenced Bawa, following his guilty plea.

The magistrate, however gave Bawa an option of fine of N30,000 for stealing and N50,000 for insulting his mother.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Daniel Lengman, told the court that the complainant, Lami, reported the case at the Police Monitoring Unit on Feb.12.

Lengman said that Bawa stole N100,000 and some cooking pots and sold them as scrap.

The police said that when the complainant tried to correct him, he insulted her.
